My first job out of university was as a commodities trader in training - not the stock exchange type trading - but buying and selling large quantities of mostly agricultural chemicals and fertilizers internationally. It was very hands on. During my time at the company I spent a lot of time managing an account in Guyana. At times I would spend up to a month there overseeing the transfer of products from ships to our customer. I spent many, many hours onboard ships and on the wharf, tracking progress and fixing problems. There were always many problems. In between problems I was very fortunate to have had some time to sketch!
